Speech Writing Format for CBSE Class 12
Format of a speech
In order to write a perfect speech, we must be well acquainted with the topic and must possess a wide range of vocabulary, a thorough knowledge of the subject, some research and excellent organisational skills. Here is the ideal format and tips to help you write your perfect speech.
A perfect speech must consist of :-
HEADING- The heading should be catchy and in not more than 5-6 words. You can go as creative as you want with this one just make sure you do not devote too much time on it in the exam.
OPENING LINE- This includes salutations, introduction and the topic. Make sure you do not mention your personal details (name, school name, etc.).
Example- Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends! Today, I (name given in the question) stand before you all to speak on the topic “(given in the question)”.
OR you could start with a quote related to the topic and then go with the salutations and introduction.
BODY- It is the main part of your writing piece.
It is always prescribed  that you begin with a short introduction on the topic, it’s meant to be precise.
Then you need to explain the current situation, the problems (if any) and whether after any corrective actions, betterment in the situation has been observed or not.
It may include advantages/ disadvantages depending upon the topic in question.
Now here, it is important you follow a sequence. It is possible that you have too many points or very few points. When you have a lot of varied points, it is better you choose a few best ones and write a line on each. In case you have very few already, explain them in at least two lines each.
You have to strictly follow the prescribed word limit in a limited time frame so just do not go on writing and writing.
MOST IMPORTANT- Always begin with your strongest point. You can accommodate the weaker ones in between and end with another strong point.
Feel free to give your personal opinion in one or two lines.
It is very important that you do not deviate from the topic. There are chances you may get ideas linking from one to another that may deviate you from the main point. You have to refrain from doing so.
SOLUTION/CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH- Now, it is to be remembered that wherever you elaborate a problem, you always have to mention the steps being taken to improvise the situation and suggest a few solutions as well.
Now, it would be great if you could add a few quotes relating to motivating the people to take action.
Here also, the rule of STRONG-WEAK-STRONG applies.
Last but not the least, the concluding line, thanking the audience for their cooperation and their patience. It is very important to conclude what you’ve started. Never leave a speech or for that matter, any of your answer open-ended.
Below is an example

IMPORTANCE OF CLEANLINESS.
In the words of the great John Wesley,
“Cleanliness is next to godliness”
Good Morning respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. Today, I, Mukul/Mahima, stand before you all, to highlight the importance of cleanliness.
Cleanliness is the state or quality of being clean or being kept clean. It is essential for everyone to learn about cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and the various diseases that are caused due to poor hygienic conditions. It is crucial for physical well-being and maintaining a healthy environment at home and at school. An unclean environment is an invitation for a lot of mosquitoes to breed in and spread deadly diseases. On the other hand, not maintaining personal hygiene leads to a lot of skin problems and decreased immunity.
The habits learnt at a young age get embedded into one's personality. Even if we inculcate certain habits like washing hands before and after meals, regular brushing and bathing from a young age, we are not bothered about keeping public places clean. For this, on 2nd October, 2014, the Indian Prime Minister launched a nation-wide cleanliness campaign, “SwachhBharat” to provide sanitation facilities to every family, including toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, village cleanliness, and safe and adequate drinking water supply. Teachers and students of schools are joining this ‘Clean India Campaign’ very actively with great fervour and joy.
Good health will ensure a healthy mind, which will lead to increased overall productivity resulting in higher standards of living, thus developing the economy. It will boost India’s international image. Thus, a clean environment is a green environment with less people falling ill. Cleanliness, hence, is defined to be the emblem of purity of mind.
Thank you.
BENEFITS OF EARLY RISING
Honourable Principal, Respected teachers and my dear friends, today I, Karuna/Karan, your Head Girl/Head Boy stand before you all to highlight the far-reaching “Benefits of Early-rising”.
“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.”
The words of Benjamin Franklin have been backed by science. It has been proved that morning people are persistent and proactive. It leads to better performance, greater success, and higher standards of living. Rising up early also relieves stress and tension because it gives you the time to squeeze in a workout before you get distracted. This is why; morning people tend to be healthier and happier as well as have lower body mass indexes.
For this, one needs to maintain a proper schedule and has to go to bed on time. You should restrict the usage of gadgets immediately before going to bed and these tiny steps will help you become an early riser. Researchers have also said that early morning is the best time to study and gain knowledge. This will help you in staying ahead in the class and keep your grades up. Most entrepreneurs are early risers as they believe it is the key to a successful, happy and content life.
Hence, if you don’t develop a habit of waking up before the rest of the world, you won’t be able to change the world.
Thank you.
1.You are a Minister of State for Tourism. Write a speech in 150-200 words regarding the growth of the tourism industry.
Ans. Good morning everyone. Today I am here to discuss the growth of the tourism industry. One can easily notice that there are noticeable changes in the character of Indian tourism, from a trip of pilgrimage to pleasure trips. A sort of organized tourism in India started in the 1950s and over the years, the Indian tourism industry has grown considerably as is indicated by the arrival of foreign tourists. The number of foreigners has substantially increased over the years.
The Incredible India advertisement campaign has undoubtedly been a reason for the increased tourist’s arrivals. This industry also possesses vast employment potential. Millions of people have been employed in hospitality services by 2015. It has provided more than 25 million jobs and indirectly more generated jobs.
The ministry of tourism has adopted many policies to combat the obstacles which come in the way of the development of tourism in our country. Every possible effort has been made to put India on the map of the world tourism industry.
This industry’s every sector, including hotels, lodging services, retail market, warehousing, transport, finance, insurance, food and beverage industry is flourishing. I assure you that tourism will contribute to the country’s GDP to a great extent and will provide more and more employment opportunities.
2. Corruption is an evil which prevails in each and every nook and cranny of our lives. As president of the student council, write a speech, expressing the need to curb this evil immediately.
Ans.                                                                Corruption
Respected principal, worthy teachers and my dear friends: today I am going to express my views on the topic; “Corruption is an Evil and the Need to Crush it”.
What is corruption? It is basically the act of bribery and fraud for indulging in unfair practices to fulfil personal motives. This evil is present in the society since time immemorial. This evil has gone into each sector and has become a common practice.
What could be the causes for indulging in corruption? These could be lust for power, money, property and prestige. It is a ladder of success through which people reach the top using undue favours and means and disregarding the regulations and norms.
Corruption is rampant in many forms like nepotism, dereliction of duty, wastage of public property, getting admissions. Corruption is eating into the rights of common man and is harming our image. CWG, Adarsh Society, Chit fund scams all these have been a result of utmost corruption and eaten the money and rights of the public.
Being the youth of the society, we should act fast to make our nation corruption-free. The movement led by Anna Hazare for Jan Lok Pal Bill is one of the biggest movements against corruption in the nation’s history.
Corruption starts from the bottom and reaches the top, thus it needs to be curbed at the ground level. There should be a monitoring committee with excellent vigilance to keep a check on corrupt officials and activities. There should be strict penalty and punishment for corrupt people. We need to make more and more people aware and help them to raise their voice and curb corruption.
Thank you
`The role of a teacher in society’
Good morning respected Principal, worthy teachers and dear friends. Today I, Navtej, have got a golden opportunity to share with you my views on the topic ‘The Role of a Teacher in Society’.
Teachers are like candles which melt themselves to brighten our future. Behind the success of every doctor, scientist, artist, singer, professional, etc. is a teacher. Besides our parents, the persons who motivate us. guide us, teach us are none other than our teachers.
They have a major contribution to society’s development and upliftment. They teach us the right values of life and the difference between right and wrong. If there were no teachers, then who would teach us and make us eligible to walk on the right path.
Teachers have a different outlook compared to other persons. They have the ability to make others realise the pros and cons of anything. Teachers, especially in India, are in the place of God and the place where they teach is a temple. Today we all are celebrating Teacher’s Day and giving respect to our president Dr R. Radhakrishnan who was also a renowned teacher. 5th September is just not an ordinal date, we show our respect and love to our teachers. We are just the soil and they convert us into beautiful pots. Thus the teachers make us realize the best of our abilities. Obviously, when we are guided and taught by good teachers, we become good human beings and contribute to society. This ultimately leads to the development and growth of society.
Thank you,
Importance of Punctuality in a Student’s life
Good morning dear friends and teachers! Today. I shall throw some light on the importance of punctuality in a student’s life.
A student has to gain knowledge. Learn new skills, and finally prove what he has learnt in the various assessments. Time is of importance as assignments are to be submitted and projects are to be done in a particular time frame. Only if the child is punctual in getting to school, he will learn all that the school curriculum has to offer
Regular study and revision will keep him up-to-date with his work and preparation for exams. As a good time-manager, he will also be able to attend extra classes as well as hobby classes. Moreover, he will certainly be able to take out time for play and recreation
We all know that time and tide wait for none. So, we need to be punctual and extract the maximum from each moment of our student life.
Thank you
‘Value of Sports and Games in Life’
Good Morning Everyone!
Honourable Principal, Worthy Teaching Fraternity and My dear Friends. I stand here in the morning congregation to highlight the importance of sports and games in life.
Dear friends, sports and games are an inevitable part of our life. They make us active, fit, agile and smart. Another value of sports and games is that they are an excellent recreation. Our daily work is a great strain on our energies. We are tired and exhausted by work. A game of football or a series of exercises in the gymnasium takes our mind away from the drudgery of work
The sports and games give fresh energy to our limbs and also make us forget our cares. These bring before us a new world of competition and struggle, and when they are over, we feel refreshed.
Sports and games teach us coolness, courage and self-control. The most valuable effect of sports is the cultivation of team-spirit, a sense of comradeship. All manly exercises, if taken in proper measure, keep us physically fit, and we can have a sound mind if only we have a sound body. A person who has not a sound body becomes nervous and irritable. He quarrels with others and cannot attend to anything for a long time. He can not look at life in a calm and quiet way but takes a sour view of life.
So, friends sports play a significant role in giving us a complete education. So we should all take part in games wholeheartedly
LAUGH! THE WORLD LAUGHS WITH YOU
Answer
Good Morning Everybody!
Revered Principal, worthy pedagogues and my dear friends. Today I have got a golden opportunity to deliberate upon the topic ‘Laughter is the Best Medicine’.
Laughter is certainly the best medicine. It ensures a healthy and longer life. Researchers have found that people, healthy or harried, who often laugh out and see the funny side of sad situations, are far likely to have a heart attack than humourless individuals.
In fact, laughter is a panacea. It lowers blood pressure by increasing blood circulation. Laughing regulates our breathing resulting in a cleaning of lungs and strengthening body tissues. It boosts our immunity and strengthens relationships.
Life, these days is full of stress and anxiety. Anxiety causes high blood pressure which leads to heart attack. But laughing is a priceless medicine and is easy to use. It relieves stress and eases anxiety and fear by lowering the stress hormones
It has been well said that life is not a bed of roses. It is a path of thorns. Life is full of trials and tribulations. Laughing whole-heartedly adds joy and zest to life. It enhances resilience. Laughter is strengthened relationships agent that makes us live longer and delays ageing. Moreover, a cheerful disposition strengthens relationships and defuses conflict. It promotes group bonding. So this free gift of nature should be used in abandon.
Thank you.
Thank you very much
